Support Group / Club Listings

While the WebWhispers website, its Library and contacts on the List and the WW Forum will answer many needs for us, we feel it is important to have a local support group in addition to what we offer. Face to face discussions and demonstrations often answer questions in an easier to understand manner.

We suggest that you check out Whispers on the Web, our newsletter for Laryngectomees and SLPs as a help for ongoing information for your club meetings. It is published on the 1st of each month with interesting articles, stories and comments.  The professional column, VoicePoints, has articles, not only for other professionals, but offers material for teaching your group and giving you topics for your own discussions.  We suggest you ask your members to check our newsletter every month.  The current newsletter can be found on the home page.

FINDING LOCAL GROUPS

If you cannot find a local meeting exclusively for “larynx cancer” or “head and neck” patients, try one for cancer patients of all types. Many of the treatments such as radiation or chemo have after effects that are shared by people with other kinds of cancers and the emotional support can be immeasurable.

The clubs below are listed by State and City in the US, followed by listings for Mexico, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Australia, and New Zealand.

If YOUR club is not listed, we ask that you contact us with your information so we may add your club to the list. Please send whatever information you have, a contact for the group, email address and web site if you have them. If you find other clubs, please let us know about them so we can add them to the list.

This meeting will have SLP Michelle Graham ,the Supervisor of the Center for Communication Disorders at Lenox Hill Hospital and a Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders, as a guest speaker.
I attended my first meeting of this club 2 months after my surgery and have
attended almost every meeting since. Why? Because the members make me feel I am not alone. I always come with a bunch of questions and get answers and inspiration from laryngectomees with 5, 10, 16 years of experience. And I feel I am among friends.
