Michael noted the following in the application submission: I had my surgery at UCSF in 1991. I now go to UC Davis in Sacramento for prosthesis changes. Kemal Karakullukcu From Elkton, MD. Kemal was born in 1964, underwent laryngectomy surgery in 2020 and uses a TEP prosthesis to speak. Kemal noted the following in the application submission: Do not like the electrolarynx. Having TEP procedure on 8/12. I communicate with a combination of “wind sounding words”, lip reading and hand gestures currently with my wife. I do not know too much technology but texting helps when we really cannot understand using those methods of my speech. My wife does the research on being a Laryngectomy because speaking English is not my primary language which adds to troubles communicating with doctors and learning on my own. Rudolph Beckmann from Vancouver, BC. Rudolph was born in 1945, underwent laryngectomy surgery in 2020 and is currently undecided on a voice.  Rudolph noted the following in the application submission: Hi there. I had the operation3 weeks ago and am slowly coming to terms with the changes. Although I have a TEP, it is not operational yet due to the swelling of the neck. Would anybody please give me some advice on an electrolarynx? I would like to have it for immediate use to communicate and also as a backup for later use.
